World Championships
Air Guitar World Championships will be arranged in August 26-29, 2026.
In 2026, Oulu is the European Capital of Culture, and the Air Guitar World Championships will be part of the Delta Life grand finale spectacle. This brings changes to the programme.
The Dark Horses will be selected in two stages this year. The first round will be a video competition, from which the best performers will be chosen to take part in the live event in Oulu — as part of the Delta Life spectacle on a stage built over the water.
The final will be a 2-day event on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th August.
During the competition week, air guitar events for both competitors and fans will also be offered before and after the finals. More details of the 2026 programme to be announced.
At the end of August, the Air Guitar year culminates at the final week hullabaloo, when contestants, fans and media representatives rush to Oulu for the celebrations.
Airientation gets everyone in an airy mood, and the last spots to the final are claimed at the intensive Dark Horses competition. The final takes place in the heart of Oulu, and the event is free entry and open to everyone. There is truly room for everyone at this internationally acclaimed, inclusive family of air guitar lovers, welcome!
